The renovation and expansion project of the Deqi section of the Beijing Taiwan Expressway has officially opened to traffic

Date : 2021-07-20

On July 6, 2021, the renovation and expansion project of the Deqi section of the Beijing Taiwan Expressway was officially opened to traffic. Over 20 years of magnificent transformation, stunning debut, the first eight lane highway in Texas showcases its grandeur!

The Beijing Taiwan Expressway is an important transportation channel connecting North China, East China, and even Southeast China. With the increasing traffic pressure in recent years, the original design standards are no longer able to meet the demand. The renovation and expansion project of the Deqi section of the Beijing Taiwan Expressway has emerged as a key project in the national 13th Five Year Plan. The project started construction on July 1, 2019, with a total length of 93.138 kilometers. It starts from the former Lu Ji Provincial Boundary Toll Station in Decheng District, Dezhou City and ends at the Yancheng Hub Interchange in Qihe County. It passes through Decheng District, Economic Development Zone, Yunhe District, Lingcheng District, Pingyuan County, Yucheng City, and Qihe County in Dezhou City. The expansion plan adopts “widening on both sides as the main approach, supplemented by local separation and widening”, with a standard of a two-way 8-lane highway and a designed speed of 120 kilometers per hour.

Due to the large traffic volume, the renovation and expansion of the Deqi section of the Beijing Taiwan Expressway requires simultaneous opening and construction in an “oversaturated” traffic state, which is difficult. The transportation department of Dezhou City actively carried out preliminary work, laying a solid foundation for the smooth commencement of the project.

To reduce uneven settlement between new and old roadbeds, high-strength pipe piles are used for reinforcement treatment in weak foundation sections and bridgehead sections. A row of pipe piles with lengths ranging from 6 to 13 meters are driven horizontally and vertically at a design spacing of 2.9 meters to reinforce the foundation, totaling 1.92 million meters.

During the construction process, a full section paving with a width of 18.75 meters was adopted, successfully achieving seamless splicing of new and old road surfaces on the main line at once, ensuring the durability of the widened road surface, and the mean square deviation of road surface flatness also reached the internal control standard of 0.58 millimeters. Among them, the Tianshun Great Wall paver participated in the paving operation of the asphalt middle and upper layers in the first, second, and third sections.

During the construction process, achieve 100% reuse of waste concrete and old asphalt. At the same time, the rubble excavated from the old roadside ditches and slopes, as well as the soil removed from the old roadbed, have also achieved 100% recycling, reducing raw material costs and environmental pollution. New facilities and technologies have improved the level of road safety operation while maximizing the protection of the ecological environment along the route.

The use of full life reflective rain night markings greatly improves the reflective ability of the markings at night and in rainy weather, providing better visual performance for drivers and passengers, and reducing the probability of traffic accidents.

The new wave shaped guardrail board and foam aluminum block improve the anti-collision performance, and have better self support, high temperature resistance, high sound insulation and other effects.

After the “four changes and eight expansions”, the traffic capacity of the Beijing Taiwan Expressway has been greatly improved, transportation costs have been saved, and transportation efficiency has been improved. This is of great significance for the intensive, distinctive, and refined development of industries in counties and cities along the Dezhou line. At the same time, as an important channel connecting the Beijing Tianjin Hebei region with provincial capital cities, convenient and smooth transportation will promote the circulation of various production factors such as people, finance, and materials, providing strong transportation guarantees for industrial upgrading, investment attraction, and balanced economic and social development in various regions along the route.

In 2021, the Transportation Bureau of Dezhou City was responsible for promoting 7 key transportation infrastructure projects, including 3 continuation projects and 4 new construction projects, with a total investment of 38.786 billion yuan. The planned annual investment is 11.756 billion yuan, an increase of 61% compared to 2020, achieving a good start to the 14th Five Year Plan.

According to the “14th Five Year Plan” development plan, Texas will build a “five vertical and five horizontal” expressway network by 2025. The “Five Verticals” refer to the Beijing Shanghai Expressway, Beijing Taiwan Expressway, Jinan Ring Expressway Second Ring Road West Ring Road, Deyun Expressway, and Deshang Expressway. The “Five Horizontals” refer to the Binde Expressway, Linwu Expressway, Jinan Ring Expressway Second Ring Road North Ring Road, Qingyin Expressway, and Jiliao Expressway. Accelerate the construction of our city’s comprehensive three-dimensional transportation network, coordinate the coordinated development of various transportation modes, and serve as a pioneer in the economic and social development of Dezhou City’s transportation.
